A College Sized Faith: Lent

Hi friends, I’m here writing my lent post and I wanted to give you guy more of an understanding on what it is. Lent is apart of the Catholic faith. Lent starts on Ash Wednesday, which is 40 days before Easter and lines up with the Passover Feast of the Jewish Faith. Lent entails giving up meat every Friday and also you have to give up one thing for the entire 40 days, which is not nom, nom.

Celebrate the Holidays with us...Winter Break 2017-2018

Hi Friends!  I have returned “To the Woods” from Winter Break.  Over the holiday, I spent time with family, shopped for a vehicle, and had several interviews for summer intern graphic design positions.  The Weber Family is a LARGE group; 40 of us gathered at my aunt and uncle’s house to celebrate Christmas.  The ages range from one to 85.  I am blessed to have both my grandparents living.  After the holiday, my parents and I shopped for vehicle.  I am looking at a silver jeep, but that hasn’t come through yet.  I also had the opportunity to interview for several summer intern positions.  My hope is that one of them come through and I’ll be set for the summer.

How I Train My Horse

Hello, friends!
Now I know that I talk a lot about my horses but…I’m about to do it again haha. I know that most of you know from many of the other posts from my fellow blogger friends that doing other things while college is going on is hard. However, trying to train your one year old horse, who you all know is my beautiful boy Star, is difficult.

Why I Go Home on the Weekends

Hello, friends I don’t know if you guys know, but this semester I am taking class Monday though Thursday and I don’t have any class on Friday. Every weekend I go home and my roommates hate this because they like to hang out all together in our room or go out and do something together but I am never there. There are a few reasons that that I do this.

Celebrate the Holidays with Us...Halloween

On one spooky day, Aly and Megan dressed up. Hey guys! It’s Aly and Megan reporting on what we did for Halloween. Halloween was a Tuesday this year and we decided to dress up even though we still had classes, but no costume contest this year at the Woods. Aly dressed up as a Witch this year and she dressed up for the whole day. Megan on the other dressed up as the Grinch for the event the CA’s were putting on that night.

Glow Party

Hello friends,
The first week of school I went to a glow party, which to most people doesn’t sound like a big thing but to me this was a big thing. This was my first party EVER. In high school I never went to a party because I didn’t have a lot of friend and the ones that I did have didn’t go to the parties.

Smart Eating to avoid the “Freshman 15”

The expression “Freshman 15 “ is a common term used of weight gained during a student’s freshman year of college.  As a WW freshman last year, I attempted to make smart eating choices to avoid the weight gain.

Lessons We Learned Freshman Year

During this first year at college we have learned both in and out of class. We don't want to bore you with things we learned in class, however, we have compiled a list of life lessons we have learned this year to share with you. Some of them are for life in general, some of them are for college students and some of them are specifically for William Woods students. So in no specific order.......

  1. It doesn't matter how hard you try, you will step on goose poop at least once while you are here. Accept it and move on.
  2. Sororities (and Fraternities) are not for everyone, try recruitment just to see but if you don't feel comfortable DON'T JOIN!! But if you do go for it!!
  3. This one has been said.....but your dorm room is small! Don't make it feel smaller by trying to pack everything you own in there.
  4. Some of the people you consider friends at the beginning of the year might be people you don't talk to by the end of the year.

A Weekend At My House

Hi friends!  This post is about this past weekend when my friends, Jennah, Lacey, and Alyssa, all came to my house the first time.  I made the one-hour trip home at 11:00 o-clock as normal, and my friends came home later because some of them had classes during the afternoon. They met up my mom in Jefferson City and followed her home.  When they got there, we all went down to my horses to feed them. My friends were excited to finally see the horses that I have been talking about since day one. They loved them, although Lacey was a little shy around them. She hasn’t really been around horse before so that was normal. After that,

My First Day at school

I (ALy)remember my first day of college being a very hard day for me. I have always been a homebody so moving out of the house was really hard for me. I remember that I was just fine when we first got there and everything was great with the unpacking and the opening ceremony. I was all smiling and laughing until my mountain of bags started to grow smaller and that reality started to set in and I started to get sad. My friends saw this and started to comfort me, which only made me worse. My parents saw this and started to hug me. “It’s going to be ok Aly, we live only a hour away and you can come home every weekend if you want too.”  This made me feel a little better but I couldn’t wait for the weekend when I can go home.

When weekend came and it was time for me to go home for the weekend I ran into my father’s arms and started to cry I was so happy to see him. When the weekend was over I had to come back to school but this time I know that everything was going to be ok and that I would have my friend to help though this journey. ☺

Were you homesick when you first moved out?
