My
Favorites
Book: Is it really possible to
decide? I mean really! Before college I read a lot more than I do now, and the
summer gives me more time than the school year (thank goodness for nap time at
work right!). Right now my brother and I are doing a The Hobbit/Lord of the
Rings marathon and they are pretty good too. I like fiction more than
non-fiction but I like when you learn things within the fiction or there is at
least a point.
Movie: DISNEY!!! I mean there is
no question. Anyone who knows me well knows I have a thing for all things
Disney, especially the movies. I also enjoy Marvel (we watched ALL of them this
past semester at school, the first time I had seen almost any of them), and the
Kendrick
Brothers movies. I also have a friend here at home that has a list
of movies I have to see this summer and I have one for him so we are having a
movie filled summer!
Song: Again, is it possible to
have just one? I am the opposite of Megan in that I love rap, hip hop, and loud
music and hate country (with the exception of a few old 90’s songs...who can
hate The Devil went down to Georgia?). However we are the same in the respect
that I will listen to almost anything (I have a friend who listens the
German Screamo and it ain’t that bad). My top genre though is, again, Disney.
If I am having a bad day, or singing in the shower my Disney playlist is my
go-to.
Sign: This is a little Lacey
specific (I am, in fact, the only ASL major of the group) but I thought I would
include it. This has changed a lot and i’m sure it will change a lot over time
and my career but right now my favorite sign is altogether (click here to see it). However, I have no idea
why. It isn’t funny or anything I just enjoy using it.
Color: Growing up it was yellow
and now i’m down for anything yellow or teal/turquoise. Seriously my entire
wardrobe is a cobo of those two colors, black and white.
Animal: Growing up I had a
fascination with ladybugs and everything I owned had ladybugs on it. When we
went to the zoo I always had to see the hippos. I still love both these animals
to this day so I am going to go with that for my answer to that question.
Food: At both home and school I
am the chef. I hardly ever use a recipe if I’ve made the dish before and eat
almost everything I cook. I go through phases with what I enjoy eating the most
and right now I am in a healthy kick. I’m trying to eat as healthy as I can
without ‘depriving’ myself. I still want my ice cream and my chocolate but my
eggs in the morning taste a whole lot better with veggies on them and a fruit
smoothie on the side. While I wouldn't say it is my favorite my new thing is
avocados (just no guacamole).
Things to
do: color,
sign, translate songs, sit around a fire, watch movies, paint my nails (can’t
do that when I become an interpreter), give hugs, snuggle, go for a run,
journal, make and eat food, making memories, having adventures, dancing, the
list goes on and on
Classes
so far: I’ve
loved my dance classes I took freshman year, all my ASL classes, and my
Women in America history class, I learned so much in that class and the teacher
really loved what he does which made going to class that much better.
Summer
activity: I love
getting together with my friends, I love being able to go to my home church, I
love going to the pool, I love BBQing, and I love going to the Muny. For my
non-STL friends this is the oldest and largest outdoor Musical theater in
America which has week long showings of different musicals. This year they are
doing Annie, Meet Me in St Louis, Singing in the Rain, and quite a few others.
You can pay and get close up seats but my family has always done the free seats
in the nosebleeds but we still enjoy it every time. We haven't been in a few
years but this year I want to go for my birthday to see either Meet me in St
Louis or Singing in the Rain, I haven't decided.
Random: Walking into work and
hearing 10 kids yell my name and run to give me a hug, Laffy Taffy jokes, car
rides with my best friends, fuzzy blankets, lazy mornings, watching the
sunrise, hot tea and iced tea, fairy lights, making Disney references in
conversation (it's even better when it's subtle but they get it and say one
back), having the house/dorm room to myself,
People: The easiest of the bunch.
I love my friends and family. I love Jesus Christ. I love my kids at work
(even if they are a piece of work). I love people who are kind and smile even
when you can see the stress in their eyes. I love people who have gone through
struggles in their lives but still find the energy to power through. I love
people who can't seem to love themselves. I love people who stop to see the
beauty in the sunset and I love people who ignore the sunset for those sitting
beside them. I love people who are carefree but can get stuff done when needed.
I love people who care about the earth and want to leave it better off for the
next generation. I love people who can get others to listen when they need to
but can also blend into the background when they want to remain unseen. I love
people who...I just love people.
Until next time,
Love God, Love Others, Love
Disney
