This school year
(2016-2017) we played three tournaments. Our first tournament we played we
didn’t win, but it was a great game. I got to play a lot, my position on the
team is a beater, and is essential to the team. What I do is hit people with a
dodgeball and get them out and away from our side of the hoops or away from our
people. Our Third tournament however we placed third and we got an amazing
trophy and we went home, that tournament was in Illinois though. It was an
all-day tournament and I learned many valuable skills from all of the
tournaments at all of the tournaments. In this game, you have to be able to
trust your teammates and know what their next move is going to be before they
know what it is.
We have practice
every Saturday at Noon or two and it can last up to two hours sometimes, but
it’s a great game to play. I’m not the most athletic person in the world, but
being able to play an almost sport at college is a lot of fun, especially
since nobody else on the team is on a sports team on campus. With Quidditch there is not a lot
of time commitment to it, just come to practice and you’re all set. For anybody
who wants to be physically active on campus and likes or doesn’t like Harry
Potter come out and join the team!
Compared to beaters at other schools I’m short and not as built, but that comes into my advantage. I know I have a lot to learn, but I am sneaky and if I run and turn every so often they can’t steal the ball from me. We are also called “Human Meat Shields” for our keeper and chasers if we don’t have the ball. That allows them to keep on going without being hit with the ball so that our team has a chance to score and win the game.
This coming year I
will be the new Team Manager of the Quiddatch team on campus, which I’m
actually really excited about because this is a great opportunity to use my
leadership skills and lead our team to excellence. As of right now we need more
team members, so if you’re looking for a school with a Quidditch team come and
play, you don’t even have to know anything about Quidditch, there are people
who will help you!
Until the ‘morrow
we will speak again
