The LEAD Program

Hello friends its Aly and for today's post I am going to be talking about a special program that only happens at William Woods University, it is called the LEAD Program.

The LEAD program intended to enrich the educational experience of students by encouraging students active participation in the university beyond the classroom. As well as this if you reach the requirements you will receive $5,000 for residential students and $2,500 for commuter students per year in scholarship money.

To receive the money you need to attend certain amount of LEAD events such as lectures, films, concerts, athletic events, plays, art exhibits, student organizations, and other events. You have to scan your ID card at the end of the event. You can see the lead of the month on the William Woods website under the tab ‘lead events’. In a month you need to collect 4 points and at the end of the semester you need to have collected 20 points.  For the full academic year you need collect 45 points to get the scholarship money. If you don’t get the points then you will not get the money.
Some of the cool events I have gone to are a few basketball game to watch the dance team perform at halftime they are very good and I can see that they put a lot of work into what they do. To learn more about our Dance Team Click here!

Thursday my friends and I went to a play called ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’. I was the first play I have been to in a long time. This play was good, it was not an extremely long play but I enjoyed it. This play was 6 scenes; 3 scenes before the 10-minute intermission, and 3 after. This Snow White was based off the original Grimm Brothers story. My favorite scene from the play was the scene were the dwarfs and Snow White meet for the first time, is was too funny. They all were afraid of her at first and didn’t know how to talk to her, but in the end they became friends. Another interesting part about the play was it was Deaf night at the theater meaning that there were ASL interpreters and all of the Deaf people sat in the front of the theater so that they can see the person interpreting. We had a fun night.
